It helps people who went Solukhumbu for tourism purpose as well as the citizen of Lukla to travel and connect to Kathmandu. Many planes crash in Lukla due to the fog and the wind which looks beautiful but may cause the death of many travellers who travels from Lukla.

History:

Under the supervision of Edmund Hillary in 1964, the airport is built. Edmund Hillary wanted to build the airport in the flat field but the local farmers were not ready to give the land so the airport built in the current position. Then he bought the land with local Sherpas in 2650 US-dollar and involved the localSerpass in building the airport. In 2008, the airport was renamed in honour of Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and Edmund Hillary, the first people who reached the peak of Mount Everest and named Tenzing-Hillary Airport.

Construction:

The airport design is the danger but enough to fly a single propeller plane. Due to the short runway sometimes many planes strike to the wall and fall from the runway. There is a slop in the runway which makes the takeoff easier in this small area and helps to stop the plane after landing. The airport able to hold four planes which are enough for the airport. There are no other facilities to go to Lukla so the airport becomes very busy sometimes. Lukla is the famous way to Mt. Everest so it becomes the famous airport in Solukhumbhu. There are three other airports in the same district but Lukla is famous and the most dangerous airport in Nepal as well as the world.
