7 Unknown facts about Saturn

Saturn | The sixth planet in our solar system. Saturn lies 1.2 Billion kilometres from earth and 1.433 Billion kilometres from the sun. It is the second largest planet in our solar system after the Jupiter with the mass of 5.683 × 10^26 kg and radius of 58,232 km. It is only one-eighth the average density of Earth and 95 times in mass of the earth. Saturn is named by the Roman god of agriculture it represents the god of the sickle. It takes 10 hrs and 28 minutes to rotate in its axis and 29 earth years to rotate the sun. Saturn has more moon comparing to other planets Titan, Mimas, Rhea, Tethys etc are the main moons of Saturn. It contains 62 confirmed moons and 9 are waiting to be confirmed.

Unknown facts about Saturn:

1. Saturn is the least dense planet in the Solar System:

The normal density of water is 1 gm/cm3 but the Saturn is just 0.687 cm/cm3 which is lesser than the water. Which makes it the less dense planet in the solar system. The surface of Saturn is made of Hydrogen, Helium and ices which makes it less dense planet.

2. By spacecraft, Saturn has only visited 4 times:

So many spacecraft are sent from Earth but only 4 spacecraft are able to reach to the Saturn. The first spacecraft  Pioneer 11 is sent in 1979, which travel 20,000 km of Saturn. And again two spacecraft Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 are sent in 1980 and 1981 respectively. And the last one is sent in 2004 named Cassini.

3. 62+ moons:

The Jupiter has 67 discovered moon but in Saturn 62 moon are confirmed and 9 are waiting for official naming. Total it has 71+ moon discovered till now. The Titan is the second largest moon in the solar system and the biggest moon of Saturn. Titan, Mimas, Rhea, Tethys, Phoebe etc are the biggest moon of Saturn.
Saturn has 150 moons and smaller moonlets. All of the moons and moonlets are frozen.

4. The name is named by a Roman God:

In Roman, Saturn is the name of a Roman God. According to Roman mythology, Saturn was the father of Jupiter, king of the god. It is named by the Roman god of agriculture it represents the god of the sickle. All of the planets except Earth are named by the Roman gods and kings.

5. Fastest winds:

Saturn has the fastest winds of any other planet in our solar system.  Sometimes the winds reached to 1,800 km per hour or 1,100 miles per hour. Which is very high-speed comparing to other planets.

6. Flattest planet in the solar system:

With a polar diameter that is 90% of its equatorial diameter, Saturn is the flattest planet in our Solar system. Due to the lower density and high rotation speed which is 10 hr and 34 minutes it becomes flat.

7. Saturn has over shaped Storme:

Scientists believe that the hexagonal shaped pattern of clouds around Saturn's north pole may be a wave pattern in the upper clouds. Saturn has oval stormes which are similar to those of Jupiter.
